Full course description

This course is designed to give students and teachers a basic introduction to biology.  This course's outline is based on the Next Generation Science Standards for life sciences.  The assignments in each section of the course provide students with the opportunity to actively create an artifact to either help master the material or demonstrate what they have learned.  This course is not inclusive of all NGSS standards and does not cover all topics typically found in a yearlong biology course.  Over time we hope to add more assignments to provide more learning opportunities for both students and teachers.

Course Outline

  1. From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes
  2. Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, and Dynamics
  3. Heredity: Inheritance and Variation of Traits
  4. Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity
